Novelly is operated by Dcipher LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). Learn more about us at dcipher.dev.

When you use Novelly, we collect:

• Account information: Your email address and display name when you sign up.
• Reading preferences: Genres you select during onboarding and in settings.
• Swipe history: Which books you like, pass on, or mark as already read. This powers your personalized recommendations.
• Reading list & ratings: Books you save and any ratings you provide.
• Transaction data: When you purchase a subscription, we collect information related to the transaction, including the date of purchase, subscription tier, billing period, and expiration date. We do not store your full credit card number or payment credentials — this information is processed and stored securely by our third-party payment processors.

How We Use Your Data

• To provide personalized book recommendations based on your preferences and swipe history.
• To maintain your reading list and account settings.
• To improve the recommendation algorithm over time.
• To send transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset) — we do not send marketing emails.
• To process payments and fulfill your subscription orders.
• To manage your account status, including verifying active subscriptions and entitlements.
• To notify you about subscription renewals, price changes, or billing issues.

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely on Supabase (hosted on AWS). All data is transmitted over HTTPS. We use Row Level Security (RLS) to ensure users can only access their own data.

We Do Not Sell Your Data

We will never sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Your reading preferences and swipe history are used solely to improve your experience on Novelly.

Third-Party Payment Processors

To facilitate subscription billing, we share necessary data (such as your email address and account identifier) with our payment processors, including Stripe and RevenueCat. These third parties are contractually prohibited from using your data for any purpose other than processing your payments and managing your subscription. We do not have access to or store your full payment card details.

Amazon Affiliate Links

Novelly participates in the Amazon Associates Program. When you click a "Get on Amazon" link, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. These links contain our affiliate tag. This does not affect which books we recommend — recommendations are based entirely on your preferences.

Cookies

We use essential cookies only — specifically, authentication cookies managed by Supabase to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data at any time through your profile and settings.
• Delete your account and all associated data by contacting us.
• Export your data upon request.
• Opt out of non-essential data processing.

These rights apply regardless of your location, including under GDPR (EU) and CCPA (California).
